It starts off with someone who understands render cleaning science and soft washing mixology, I’m Darran Smith and I am one of the most experienced render cleaning experts in the UK today. When it comes to cleaning your render, you must find someone who understands what needs to be done to keep the finish clean and bright white for longer.

1. On-Site Survey

First off we need to decide what level of infestation is growing on a scale of one to ten. One and it’s there but not visible to the naked eye. Ten and the render is discoloured, cracked and falling off the walls!

2. Porosity Testing

The porosity of each rendered wall MUST be measured BEFORE any soft wash cleaning takes place. This is because when the soft wash mixture is blended too strong, the render will fail and fall off the wall prematurely. Too weak and the mould will grow back quicker and thicker than ever before. This will cause severe problems down the line.

3. Thermal Image Scan

Once the render has been tested for porosity a thermal image scan will determine which walls are damp and which walls are leaking heat.

4. Written Test Sheet

The render cleaning surveyor MUST make written notes on a test sheet to ensure both the customer and the soft wash render cleaning technician can read and clearly understand  what effective percentage of soft wash mix to use safely on each wall.

5. Neutralise with Final Wash

Once the soft wash mix has been allowed to dwell for a pre determined length of time, a Final Wash Neutraliser MUST be used to STOP the soft wash mix from working and destroying the render. Simply rinsing it with water is not good enough.

6. Application of Render Care by Nautilus Hydrophobic Coating

Once the render has dried out enough, usually the same day or 24hrs later, it is time to apply a breathable invisible water repelling hydrophobic coating. This STOPS water from penetrating the render. Because the render cannot now hold ANY water, mould and all other types of Organic Matter cannot grow.

7. Annual Checkup
